Telephony Design and Configuration

As the use of traditional telephone lines declines and the transition to internet-based communications becomes more urgent, we ensure your business telephony is future ready.

With the impending PTSN switch-off and the rise of hybrid working, the telephony landscape is transforming, forcing businesses to embrace new ways of connecting. By offering a new perspective on your telephony system setup, ARO brings your businesses into the digital age.

Our aim is not to simply swap out your analogue services before the copper switch-off in 2025. It’s more about developing a telephony architecture design that delivers the key outcomes your business needs – whether this is more collaborative ways of working, improving the quality of calls or reducing your costs.

Channel consolidation

We design and configure IP telephony systems, using IP technology to simplify and integrate multiple channels of communication. Impact where it matters

Improved productivity

Driving every ARO telephony infrastructure design is the goal to make collaboration between your teams and departments easier.

Lower costs and less maintenance

Leveraging internet-based telephony reduces the cost of calls and requires less maintenance than traditional phone lines.

Future-proofing communications

Upgrading from physical phone lines to IP telephony creates networks that are easier to scale and adapt to future communication trends.

The Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) switch-off is the global transition from PSTN to more efficient and advanced communication systems, such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). This transition aims to replace traditional copper-based telephone networks with digital and internet-based alternatives.

The UK’s plan for the PSTN switch-off is scheduled for December 2025. The PSTN will be disconnected by Openreach.

To transition to internet-based communications, you need to assess your current telephony infrastructure and determine the most suitable technology for your needs, such as VoIP or SIP. Next, choose a reputable service provider offering the features required for your business. And lastly, implement the necessary hardware and software solutions, which may include IP phones, routers, and compatible communication platforms.

SIP reduces communication costs, especially for long-distance and international calls. Plus, there are no significant upfront investments required for hardware and installation and maintenance costs are eliminated since SIP uses the internet instead of expensive phone lines. In addition, SIP easily scales to accommodate business growth and supports different communication formats such as voice, video, and messaging, along with advanced features such as call routing, auto-attendants, and integration with other communication tools.
