Windows 365

Windows 365 is a cloud-based service offered by Microsoft that enables users to stream a Windows desktop operating system from the cloud to any compatible device, including PCs, Macs, tablets, and smartphones.

Windows 365 provides a virtualised desktop experience, allowing users to access their personalised Windows environment and applications from anywhere with an internet connection.

Windows 11 is the latest version of the Windows operating system, released by Microsoft for installation on traditional PCs and laptops. Windows 365, on the other hand, is a cloud-based service that streams a virtualised instance of Windows to users’ devices. While Windows 11 is installed locally on a device, Windows 365 provides a virtualised desktop experience and can be accessed from various devices via the cloud.

Windows 365 is licensed on a subscription basis, with pricing based on factors such as the chosen configuration (e.g., virtual hardware specifications), the number of users, and the desired service level (e.g., performance, storage). Organisations can select a subscription plan that aligns with their requirements and pay a recurring fee per user to access the service.

Non-licensing requirements for Windows 365 include a stable internet connection for accessing the virtualised desktop environment, compatible devices capable of running a supported web browser or remote desktop client, and sufficient system resources (e.g. processing power, memory) to handle the streaming of the Windows desktop from the cloud.
