Continuous exposure management using the security tools you already own
Most organisations we speak to are not short of security tools. They have endpoint protection, a firewall, conditional access policies, email filtering, backup, multi-factor authentication and a license bundle that promises rather more than anyone has had time to switch on. Their biggest challenge is knowing whether everything is configured correctly.
The gap between perceived security and verified protection has become one of the most reliable opportunities for attackers to gain a foothold in a business. To help our customers close it, ARO has added Guardare to its cyber portfolio: a continuous exposure management platform that connects to the tools a customer already owns and shows, in plain language, where the protection is not holding.
You Can’t Defend What You Can’t See
Ask most IT managers whether their environment is secure, and you will get an honest answer: probably, mostly, in the areas they have had time to check.
That is not a failure of skill. It is a failure of coverage. Microsoft 365 alone carries well over a thousand security-relevant settings. Add identity, endpoint, cloud infrastructure, network and email, each a discipline in its own right, and you are asking a team of three or four people to hold expert knowledge across every one of them while also keeping the business running. Most of them also inherited the environment they are now responsible for, without a map.
The result is not dramatic. It is quiet. A conditional access policy with an exception somebody added for a project that finished two years ago. Legacy authentication still enabled on a protocol nobody uses. A server may appear fully patched, yet remain vulnerable because the update was installed but the system was never rebooted. An admin account may sit outside MFA protection simply because it was created before the policy was introduced.
The things that cause the most damage are rarely the things people knew were wrong.
Point-in-Time Assessments Are Not Enough on Their Own
Annual assessments, penetration tests and audits all have real value, and we run and recommend them. But each one is a photograph of a moving object.
Environments change every day. Services are deployed, policies are amended, staff join and leave, applications update themselves overnight. By the time an assessment has been written up and circulated, the estate it describes has already moved on. Meanwhile, the people probing for weaknesses don’t work on an annual cycle.
Continuous exposure management addresses the timing problem, not the effort problem. Instead of finding out where you stood in March, you know where you stand today.
What Guardare Does
Guardare is not another agent rollout, and it does not replace anything. It connects to the security tools an organisation already runs using read-only access across identity, endpoint, cloud, firewall and email, and builds a single risk picture of every user, device and application, along with how they relate to one another.
From there, it does three things that matter commercially.
- It validates rather than assumes. Guardare checks whether each control is configured properly and genuinely in use, surfacing tools that are deployed but underused and licenses that are being paid for twice.
- It prioritises rather than alerts. Rather than adding to the queue, Guardare produces a short, ordered list of the actions that will reduce the most risk, written in language a non-technical director can follow, with the supporting evidence from the customer’s own tools attached.
- It maps findings to the frameworks that matter. Alignment to NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls means the output doubles as continuous evidence for auditors, boards and the client security questionnaire that always arrives at the worst moment.
Because the integrations are read-only, initial setup takes hours rather than weeks, and nothing in the existing estate has to change.
What Organisations Actually Find
The first look is usually the most uncomfortable and the most valuable. Guardare reports that across the environments it has assessed, it has identified devices recorded as fully secure in internal reporting that were not protected at all, servers logged as patched that had never been rebooted and therefore never took the update, and leaked or weak credentials present on more than three in ten devices examined.
None of those were hidden. They were simply nowhere that anybody was looking.
Starting with a Snapshot
For most organisations, the sensible first step is a baseline. Guardare connects to the existing estate, takes an initial view of where exposure sits, and from there the customer decides which areas are worth investigating properly. Onboarding and ongoing support come from Guardare directly, so there is no dependency on anyone else’s schedule. It is a practical starting point, and it pairs naturally with ARO’s Cyber Maturity Assessment. The assessment establishes where the gaps are and what they are worth fixing. Guardare keeps them visible afterwards and tracks whether they are actually closing, which is the part that usually gets lost once the report has been filed.
Expert Insight
“Most organisations are not short of security tools. They are short of confidence that those tools are configured correctly and doing what they were bought to do. Guardare gives that confidence continuously rather than once a year, and it does it using the estate the customer has already paid for.”

What This Means for Our Customers
At ARO we believe cyber At ARO we believe cyber security should deliver clarity, not complexity. Adding Guardare strengthens our ability to answer a question customers ask constantly and rarely get a straight answer to: is what we already have actually working?
It suits organisations from around a hundred seats upwards. For smaller IT teams, it often provides the first real visibility they have had of their own security posture, without adding headcount. For larger organisations, it brings a unified risk view across a complex, multi-tool estate, with findings routed to the people who own them.
Whether you want to understand your exposure for the first time or add continuous assurance to an established security programme, Guardare brings a focused, specialist capability. Guardare delivers the platform, the onboarding and the ongoing support. ARO’s role is to help you work out whether it is the right answer for your environment, and to handle the licensing and commercials if it is.
